June 8 KPES Panther Family Update Posted on June 8, 2026 Week of June 8–12 Dear KPES Families, What a wonderful and busy week of learning and fun at KPES! Our Panthers continue to amaze us with their creativity, kindness, and enthusiasm as we head into the final weeks of the school year. Week in Review 🌟 Marigold Planting Project 🌼 Our K–2 students and staff met with Mayor Nancy Grant and the Town gardening crew to plant marigolds they had grown in class. Students learned about the plant life cycle and finished the project by giving back to the community through planting around town. Sun Sense Presentations ☀️ Students learned about the importance of sunscreen, hats, and skin protection from harmful UV rays. (Parent tip from a twin mom: Using a blush brush to apply sunscreen on little faces can make the process much easier!) Saint John Strings Performance 🎻 We began Thursday with an incredible performance from the ASD-S Saint John Strings Program. The conductor shared that KPES was the most respectful and kind audience they’ve ever performed for. We were so proud of our Panthers! Maker Fair Success 🛠️ Our Grade 4 and 5 Maker Fair was a huge success! Students showed incredible creativity and entrepreneurship, and our Panthers had so much fun exploring and purchasing items. Thank You to PTA & PSSC 🤝 We are so grateful to our PTA and PSSC members for all of their support throughout the year. If you are interested in volunteering, joining PTA or PSSC, or helping in any way next year, please reach out — we’d love to have you involved! Lost and Found Reminder 👕 Any remaining lost-and-found items will be donated after school on Monday, June 8. Items have been out for several weeks, and we need to prepare our spaces for upcoming events and year-end activities. Please stop by on Monday if you are missing anything! Upcoming Dates & Events 🗓️ June 8 — Grade 4 Field Trip 🚌 Aquatic Centre & Fort LaTour June 9 — Spring Concert Dress Rehearsal 🎶 June 10 — Grade 5 RPS Visit 🏫 Grade 5 students will visit RPS for orientation. Parents/guardians of Grade 5 students attending RPS are invited to an information session: June 9 6:00 PM at RPS June 10 — Volunteer Appreciation Garden Party 🌻 Celebrating the volunteers who support our school community Volunteers can still RSVP — it’s not too late! June 11 — Spring Concerts 🎤 Show 1: 9:30–10:30 Show 2: 12:00–1:00 Both performances are the same, so families may choose whichever time works best. June 12 — Field Day 🏃 Organized by Mrs. Gray Rain date: June 15 K–2 Tie Dye Reminder 🎨 K–2 students are asked to bring in one item for tie-dyeing by Friday, June 12. Tie Dye Day will take place on Tuesday, June 16. Helpful Panther family tip: white T-shirts are currently on sale at Michaels for approx $3. June 16 — Grade 5 Track Meet 🏅 All Grade 5 students will attend and cheer on classmates. June 17 — Grade 3 Bowling Trip 🎳 For any parents who attended KPES in the 80s, you may remember students performing “Let’s Bowl” from Grease 2 on the back stairs. Probably not a song that aged well! 😂 June 17 — Grade 5 Moving Up Celebration 🎓 Doors open: 12:30 Ceremony begins: 12:45 June 18 — School-Wide QPlex Trip 🏊 Life jackets are recommended and may be required for some. Families are welcome to come watch! Bus departure: 10:00 AM PTA will provide hot dogs and watermelon upon return — thank you, PTA! June 19 — Last Day of School 🎉 Report cards go home this day as well. Final Thoughts 💛 It’s hard to believe we are so close to the end of the school year.
