Sept. 14 Panther Weekly Update Posted on September 14, 2026 Hello Panther Families, What a great first week! Our students worked hard, learned new routines, built new friendships, and settled into their classrooms. I think it’s safe to say that students and staff were all a little tired by Friday, but still smiling at the end of the day! 😊Please remember to send weather-appropriate outerwear, as we hope to be outside rain or shine. Positive Behaviour Interventions & Supports (PBIS) Blitz Our PBIS Blitz is off to a fantastic start. At KPES, we teach expected behaviours just as intentionally as we teach literacy and numeracy. Students have been learning, practicing, and reinforcing school-wide expectations, and many have already earned ballots for demonstrating positive behaviours. We are proud of the strong start our Panthers have made! No School on Friday, September 18 A reminder that there will be no school for students on Friday, September 18, as staff participate in a provincial Professional Learning Day. And just to be clear… I didn’t choose the date! 😊 PTA Meeting Interested in learning more about our PTA or becoming involved? Monday, September 14, 7:00-8:00 p.m. New members and curious visitors are always welcome! PSSC Meeting Our first Parent School Support Committee (PSSC) meeting will be held: Wednesday, September 23, 7:00-8:00 p.m. We would love to welcome anyone interested in learning more about the committee and how families can help support student success. Terry Fox Run, Truth and Reconciliation, and Our First School Assembly On Thursday, September 24, we will hold our Terry Fox Run and our first school-wide assembly of the year. Our character focus for September is Perseverance. Perseverance reflects Terry Fox’s determination and reminds us that positive change comes when we continue moving forward, even through challenges. It also connects to our commitment to learning, listening, and taking meaningful action toward Truth and Reconciliation. At KPES, Truth and Reconciliation is woven throughout the year. As part of our commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, we recognize Wabanaki Wednesdays with a Land Acknowledgement and a learning fact shared during morning announcements each week of the year. Teachers also incorporate Indigenous perspectives, resources, and teachings throughout the school year, with additional learning opportunities during September as we prepare for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Students are encouraged to wear: Black and Gold on Thursday, September 24 🖤💛 Orange Shirts on Tuesday, September 29 🧡 More information about these events will be shared soon. Estey Art Program Students in Grades 3-5 who are registered for the Estey Art Program will begin on September 21. Hot Lunch Delay We have not yet received an update regarding the provincial hot lunch program. As soon as we know more, we will share that information with families.
