Panther Weekly Update Feb. 8

🐾 Panther Family Update: February 8th, 2026

Happy Sunday, Panther Families!

We are heading into a very exciting week at KPES. With the spirit of friendship in the air and a long weekend on the horizon, there is a lot to celebrate in our “Small School with the Big Heart.”

Here is what’s happening at KPES for the week of February 9–13:

ā¤ļø Valentine’s Day & Classroom Parties

This Friday, February 13th, our classes will be holding their Valentine’s Day parties! It is always a heart-warming day including snacks, crafts, and friendship.

  • A Note on Valentines: If your child chooses to bring in Valentine’s cards, that is wonderful! We simply ask that you ensure all classmates are included so that every Panther feels celebrated.
  • Treats: If you have not already heard from a classroom parent, please check with your child’s teacher regarding any specific allergy restrictions before sending in food items.

✊ Celebrating Black History Month

Our exploration of “Amazing Black Atlantic Canadians” continues! We hope you’ve had a chance to look through the “Black History in Canada” magazine that was sent home last week.

  • Did You Know? This year marks the 30th anniversary of Black History Month being officially recognized in Canada. Our students are currently looking at the “Brilliance Across Generations,” learning about pioneers of the past and the young visionaries of today.

šŸ—“ļø Important Dates & Reminders

  • Feb 11 & 12 (Wed/Thu): ASD-S String Program Info Sessions šŸŽ» If your child is interested in starting a string instrument this March, please attend one of the sessions at 7:00 PM at Glen Falls School.
  • Feb 13 (Friday): Classroom Valentine’s Parties!
  • Feb 16 (Monday): Family Day (No School) šŸ  We hope you enjoy the extra time with your loved ones!
  • Feb 17 (Tuesday): A big day of cultural significance as we recognize the start of Lunar New Year (Year of the Horse!) and the expected beginning of Ramadan. We look forward to learning more about these traditions from our students and families who celebrate.

🌊 Looking Ahead: March Break

It feels early, but March Break (March 2–6) is just around the corner! We hope this heads-up helps as a reminder for family planning or childcare arrangements.

⭐ Looking Forward

As we enjoy our Valentine’s celebrations on Friday, we’ll be reminding students that kindness is a “year-round” skill. It’s lovely to see them applying the lessons of perseverance and inclusion we’ve been discussing all month.

Stay safe, stay warm, and we will see all our Panthers tomorrow!
